The consequences may include that it limits the ability to interact with people face to face, it opens up opportunities for cyber bullying and it also creates opportunities for strangers to find information about users that could be harmful.

Everyone is somehow connected to social media. Whether it be Facebook, Skype or even YouTube. However everyday people are in debate as to whether or not social media is a good thing or a bad thing. Some people say that its good to be connected to every other person who’s connected. For example if you are online to Facebook you can “talk” to anyone else who is online. Others think its bad because people become addicted to the network, these people are convinced that these networks are stopping people from going out to talk to each other in person but I fact they are It just takes free online chats to organise it. I think that social networking is good because it allows us to be able to interact with other people all over the world.

It has only recently become a major part of our day-to-day life, but the increase of use of this technology needs to be monitored. However, this technology can be used for the wrong reasons, such as spreading inaccurate information and the lack of privacy of users must be questioned. Social media is neither good or bad for society, rather it supplements it. No amount of technology or social media will ever take away a persons nature to be in physical contact with other people. Older generations may look down on social media but it enhances the way that they might have spent their younger years.

Some believe the affects of Facebook, twitter and so on is positive, while many believe it brings out the non-face to face communication between us. The majority of us use some form of social media everyday whether it is for personal communication, self-promotion or marketing. So when those argue against the use of social media you cannot use stereotypical terms about those who use it or argue that they are different from you, we have all used it at least once. The positives for me out way the negatives. The point of how social media is now the best way to connect across vast distances is a major contribute to why my belief of social media’s positive affect is to be. Social media can now inform, entertain, and help communicate with a wide variety of people over the world. Without this the talking and communication made across countries wouldn’t be able to be done.

The availability and convenience of social media through phones, ipad’s and small computers really make our lives easier.
